Biography
Born in Pisa, Tuscany, Italy, on April 1, 1976, I began working in my fatherās office from the age of 10 to 17, where I learned how to work with wood. My education was quite unconventional, as I was never a strong student in the traditional sense. I preferred learning things on my own, outside of the classroom. After an apprenticeship in Florence under the guidance of Marco Sala, I received my professional degree in 2012. I held my first exhibition in Abu Dhabi with my mentors, Prof. Arch. Marco Sala and Prof. Mohammed Kashef, focusing on sustainable architecture projects. While studying in Florence, I had the opportunity to meet and work with esteemed architects like Vincenzo Legnante and Adolfo Natalini. My initial interest in architecture was sparked by the sketches of Mario Botta, and I often wonder how he would approach certain projects. After registering with the Order of Architects in Pisa in 2014, my professional career officially began in Dubai at the Lebanese firm Erga Progress, under the direction of Joseph Sabaya. I was responsible for designing several single-family homes in Dubai, and my work has since expanded to include schools, banks, administrative buildings, sacred spaces like mosques, headquarters, showrooms, museums, and shops. In 2020, I became a registered member of the Society of Engineers in Dubai. After completing my studies, I traveled to explore architectural styles in Tokyo, London, and across the Middle East, including Dubai and Abu Dhabi. In 2018, my practice, RICCARDO BERTELLI ARCHITECTS, relocated to Dubai, where we continue to engage in both local and international projects.
As architects, we are involved in projects from start to finish, providing full architectural design and consultancy services throughout the construction phase. Our design expertise extends beyond architecture to include interior design, master planning, landscape design, and exhibition design. I am an architect with international professional experience. After graduating from the University of Florence, I worked with various architectural firms in San Francisco and London before moving to Dubai, where I held positions as an Interior Designer and Coordinating Designer. I possess solid knowledge in furnishings, communication, and sustainable design, and I have developed projects for museums and shopping centers.I stay up to date by participating in major trade fairs both in Italy and the United Arab Emirates, such as the Salone del Mobile, Cersaie, Saie, Made Expo, Index, Big 5, Marmomac, and the Salone della Sedia. Since childhood, I have developed a deep knowledge of marble and its working processes, and I have even created some prototypes in collaboration with a company in the sector.I am meticulous, detail-oriented, motivated, enterprising, responsible, and determined to demonstrate all my skills in the field. My interest in sustainable design continues to grow as I study the creation of museums and shopping centers.I worked for about a year at the interior design firm Studitalia in Dubai, and in September 2018, I began a valuable work experience at the design studio ERGA-Progress as a Design Coordinator, where I completed several minimalist villa projects. I also organized and held a joint architectural exhibition and seminar in Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with Alhosn University and the Faculty of Architecture at Florence. I have a strong interest in nanotechnology and ETFE polymers, particularly their use in incorporating photovoltaic cells, and I have further explored this through the development of the “Solar Skin” patent.

Our Values
In architecture, we meticulously design our approach, continuously refining it. When we create a project, we observe everything through the lens of multiple disciplines. I donāt view architecture solely from a creative standpointāitās impossible to measure the final outcome with standard systems. Architecture is an elusive concept, with unclear boundaries; it deeply intertwines with our lives. On a larger scale, it shapes citizens’ thinking. On a personal level, it directly influences habits, needs, and opinions on various concepts. Our design process begins with the basicsācubes, walls, and overlaps. From there, we map out processes, create mind maps, and examine the tasks from different perspectives. Itās akin to creating scenarios for films, where clear rules govern human perception. We donāt just place brick by brick, but place bricks in a way that transforms a natural condition into a cultural one. This, in essence, bears the spirit of humanity. In my view, architecture is the act of defining the boundary between the inside and outside, the earth and sky, the finite space and the immensity that surrounds it. Itās expressed in the act of tracing a perimeter, an anthropological gesture that establishes a microcosm, a space controlled by humans, juxtaposed with the infinite macrocosm of nature.
I believe that only by building clear, decisive structures or models can we truly understand what we are dealing with. We must also view architecture within a temporal contextāwhat was desired yesterday, planned today, built tomorrow, and managed the day after. It is essential to understand how to create structures that remain relevant for at least 10 to 20 years. I am convinced that architecture, as a form of communication, records the traces of an era. For me, architecture and interior design are science-crafts that respond to elements related to human behaviors and space. Architecture aims to improve human activity, foster social interaction, and provide meaningful interpretations of context, all through the creative intellect of the architect. In its essence, architecture transforms and defines the habitat for human experiences, growth, and achievements. But above all, through careful study, there must be an appreciation of architectureās long-term significance as a discipline to be lived and appreciated. Whether formal or functional, technological or economic, contextual or abstract, architecture is, in my opinion, a formula of many components. These components come together under the guiding hand of the architect, acting as a catalyst.

Riccardo Ā refers to the process of creating three-dimensional digital models of objects or environments using specialized software. The process of 3D design typically involves the following steps:
- Conceptualizing: Defining the idea or concept that the design will represent.
- Modeling: Creating a 3D model of the object or environment using specialized software tools.Ā
- Texturing: Apply surface textures, colors, and materials to the 3D model to enhance its visual appearance and realism.
- Lighting: Setting up virtual lighting sources to create realistic shadows and reflections.
- Rendering: Generating 3D rendering of an object by simulating the way light interacts with virtual objects.Ā
- Interactivity: Adding movement to the 3D model by animating its elements
The interior design fees are determined based on the size of your house. To estimate the approximate cost, simply multiply the area of the space by the price indicated below. To calculate an indicative interior design cost, you need only choose the size category of your home and multiply the house size by appropriate charge per square meter you see above.
